The Hill Country’s Own: Symphony of the Hills

November 05, 2018

Here in the Hill Country, Classical and Pops symphony fans need to look no further for their beloved music than Symphony of the Hills. Conductor and Artistic Director Dr. Eugene Dowdy and Concertmaster Dr. Daniel Kobialka oversee the Symphony’s 75 musicians – all of whom are seasoned professionals who have mastered a veritable cornucopia of genres. Performed at Kerrville’s Cailloux Theater for the Performing Arts, each performance of the Symphony of the Hills brings beautiful and inspirational music that cultivates further appreciation as it excites, motivates, and entertains.

Past concerts have included “A Musical Legacy – From Mozart to Bernstein,” while upcoming performances include the seasonal “Peace on Earth, Peace,” featuring the music of Holst, Rutter, Tchaikovsky, and Finzi, and a dazzling execution of “The Fabulous Fifties – from Romance to Rock and Roll.” This performance will include numerous selections from “Guys and Dolls,” “An American in Paris,” and “Around the World in Eighty Days.” Also featured are the themes from “Peter Gunn,” “Dragnet,” and “Summer Place,” along with the Champs’ “Tequila,” and the Perez Prado classic, “Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White.”
