A Hill Country Tradition: Great Music, and Those Who Play It

March 05, 2018

What do Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Kathy Mattea, Townes Van Zandt, and Guy Clark, Los Texmaniacs, and The Accidentals all have in common? They were all either born in Texas, or spent time performing here. Whether we’re talking about a big, honking, Texas-style band or a solo acoustic player, some of the most gifted musicians in the country just seem to gravitate to the Texas Hill Country. Many native Texans are among these deservedly proud performers, and some of them often play or sit in with other bands in various local and regional venues.

Along with the many clubs, saloons, concert halls, and dance hall performances, Hill Country also plays host to a variety of music, folk music, and singer-songwriter festivals annually, with thousands of visitors descending annually on Kerrville, Luckenbach, Fredericksburg, and the surrounding areas. But, country isn’t the only music in town. Traditional German and country, western swing, classical, bluegrass, Americana, and jazz can all be found here. So, if you’re a music lover, kick back and stay awhile - we’ll make you feel right at home.
